Reggae in the himalyans-Lola loves it

You wonder how reggae and the himalayans go together? Well may be it was originally from Jamaica but at one point it became a global thing. It is definitly here in northern India. Jamaica has Kingston and we’re in Keylong right now – so the names are somewhat similar.
And the reason why there is reggae here is easily explained. We are staying in a hotel called snowland and admitadly that’s nothing easily related to reggae which is sun fun and beach live. But the hotel staff is from Nepal-a fact that’s still not too reggeaish you might say to yourself. But these guys just work the short summer season up here in the mountains and seven months each year they work in Goa.

And there we go – Goa has beaches, Goa has sun, Goa has a laid back lifestyle – so that’s like Jamaica. And the guys work in a club when they are down there. And a good club need music right? And that’s where reggae and good old Bob Marley comes in. They love him and his music and they brought it up with them when they came here for the summer season. Which explains how reggea made it up to the himalayans.

Since the guys are used to listen to it when they are at work down in Goa, they also play it when they work here. And that’s how we found out how much Lola loves it. We knew that she loves music in general, before we had arrived here in Keylong. Because every time she hears music she starts to shake her hips and hands.
But when the hotel guys started playing Bob Marley for her (she’s walking now with assistance) – she would shake her pampers-cushioned-booty like Tina Turner in her best days. Smiling all over her face.

So may be we should consider a detour through Jamaica – to show her the real thing. We’re sure she would love it!
